Hello, i’m Elisha,
Health nerd, foodie, skincare addict, ex professional chef, tennis novice, gym junkie, coffee connoisseur & collector of pretty stuff (it’s pathological at this stage).
Professionally, I am a degree qualified health scientist majoring in Naturopathy & Nutrition and a certified fat loss & strength coach. To say the least, I love evidence based practice & ‘getting to the point’, using interventions that WORK which essentially saves a whole lot of wasted time.
Currently age 48, I find myself traversing a health terrain that, quite frankly,
NOBODY WARNED ME ABOUT!
Thankfully, a health science degree has given me the tools to find out what’s going on & most importantly, what to do about it.
Aside from the (often) debilitating symptoms of perimenopause, the main theme I hear over & over in clinical practice is utter confusion over ‘good‘ & ‘bad‘ foods, insulin vs cortisol vs oestrogen / progesterone / testosterone for road-blocking weight loss & the often costly lengths my perimenopausal patients will go to in the effort to lose weight only to either lose it temporarily, or not at all.
At large, we are led to believe that perimenopause & ageing will bring about mandatory weight gain, of which we will struggle to lose if we still wish to enjoy delicious food & well…life.
Personally, i’ve tried it all…low fat (hello 1980’s to 1990’s), keto, low carb, strict whole foods, intermittent fasting; and they all worked until they didn’t.
Oddly enough, it’s now, in the middle of perimenopause that I find myself enjoying a variety of foods, even some that were on the ‘forbidden list‘ for decades whilst simultaneously being in the best shape of my life; fit, strong & ambitious with a clear mission ahead… to help you find this for yourself.
So, why BIOFIT?
I was over sitting back & watching the chaos !
Toxic diet culture, food confusion, food fears, rapid weight loss lies, unqualified influencer health scams & cycles of disappointment that simply destroy the belief that losing weight & keeping it off is even achievable without crazy calorie & ‘bad food‘ restriction, ‘special’ supplements, hours of exercise & a cupboard full of superfoods…
And after bearing witness to the frustration & disappointment of many of my clients… I know their struggles all too well… BIOFIT was launched, as an ode to the evidence-based science of perimenopausal wellness, metabolic health, slower ageing & fat loss.
My mission is to build a comprehensive & supportive platform to keep the madness & yo-yoy’s out of health & wellness…so you can learn how to enjoy your croissant & your strong, lean curves too.
So, with all that said, my first piece of advice?
Don’t wait for motivation, it all starts with a decision…followed by some education, a little discipline & some habit changes…then let the results motivate you to keep going.
